Goodwill Find

Holyoke Home follows Goodwill on Twitter (Hi Goodwill!) because I love to visit our local Goodwill stores and Salvation Army stores, and other thrift stores.  Maybe it comes from having parents who were antique collectors and dealers (for a little while), but I definitely am cheap, like to get my shop on without spending a lot of money, get a thrill from the hunt care about reducing, reusing and recycling.

One of these days, I'm going to create a 'Holyoke Home's Guide to Local Thrift Shops' because there are truly some INCREDIBLE thrift stores (there are four Salvation Army stores within 10 miles ALONE.  But only one of the four is worth visiting. Maybe I'll tell you which one some day)  but for now, I want to share this find.

It is a white and yellow enamel bowl.  I know nothing about it other than: I love it.  The clean lines, the modern design, the shiny.  Everything.  Thanks Goodwill!

It hasn't found its final place in our home.

Good eye! That bowl, among others of its ilk, is a classic.

Not sure who made or designed it - someone Finnish?
    1950's ish?

Other readers of Holyoke Home will probably know immediately.

    Love, mom

  2. Oh, it is beautiful : ) I love goodwill too. And Salvation Army! And this great thrift store in my neighborhood called Care and Share. So fun. I could spend hours in there searching for treasures! Stopping over from SITS this morning!

  4. Savers is my favorite, have you checked out 5Dillion behind Nicks Nest? It's a consignment thrift shop full of awesome.

    LOVE the bowl.

  5. Cute!

I love thrift stores, but find it hard to shop in them right now. My boys don't like to browse, so I have to go places where I can head to exactly what I'm looking for and then get out.

  7. Oh, that reminds me of my grandmother Josie. Danish design, I think - she had close friends from Denmark and a lot of her kitchen/dining stuff was Danish. I have a wonderful set of flatware from her... clean, utilitarian and yet so elegant.

  8. I had a green bowl just like that one, and I loved it for years. I think it came to me as a wedding gift in 1965 or was purchased in Copenhagen or Stockholm in 1971. I haven't seen it in ages, and suspect it stayed in my ex's kitchen...

  12. The bowl is beautiful - but I absolutely love the integrity, lines... everything about the table it's sitting on. I want something like that as a coffee table. Gorgeous.
