Back Porch Colors

For those just joining us - I am having back porch color conundrums. There is no consensus about which colors we should use. Lately, today, this minute, RIGHT NOW I am leaning toward a light, purply gray for the floors and ceiling, a purply dark brown for the posts and railing, and something bright and to be determined as an accent on the party wall upstairs (that's right bitches. I have a PARTY WALL.)

I went to Clark Paint (The. Best. Paint. Store) in West Springfield to pick out colors and stopped in my tracks at this:
They were nice enough not to kick me out after two hours. Needless to say, picking colors is a process.

  1. Unlinke you, I'd be heading for the hills if I saw that many choices.

The shades of purple sound great. Can't wait to see what you choose for the partay wall.

  2. I like the purplish hues. I think you asked about my purple door which is a deep eggplant color - basically black with a tinge of purple. I love it. I vote for something in the orange family for party wall. The contrast will really pop.

  4. Oooh, just from the description I can tell I'm going to love your blog! I may go into Historical Restoration and Preservation. I must read more to see if you're going with the history or updating! :)

  6. Color options always overwhelm me, that is why, despite repeated announcements to the contrary, I have not yet repainted my living room. When I really, really am ready to do so, I think I will send pics to Anne of Bossy Color (http://bossycolorblog.blogspot.com) and get her advice....

ps - I vote for robin's egg or sky blue for the Party Wall, it looks so nice with purple hues and will evoke cool in the summer and cheer in the winter....

  7. best investment i've made in the last few years is buying my own benjamin moore color chip fans. there are three (i think - tho i only have two) in total that means you'd have every color they do. having it at home and studying it there first has helped me to find other aisles in the hardware store to loiter in. and on depressing days - it's just fun to flip through the colors and dream about starting the process all over again.

  8. I know exactly how you feel. I think the real key is painting a bunch of samples and going from there. My garage door came out way redder then I wanted because I just picked a color based on the swatch.
