Holyoke Home Of The Week

Do you stalk homes for sale online? Even though you are HAPPILY ensconced in your own? I can't possibly be alone, can I?

We're starting a weekly feature called 'Holyoke Home of the Week', because every time I see what's out there, I CANNOT BEE-LEEV the beautiful properties that are available (and the prices. So low. Oy.)  In the interest of full disclosure:
- We are not being compensated for these posts.
- I'll include the address of the property if it's included in the MLS listing.
- We make no claims as to the condition of any property. I'm just surfing the internet (like you) and reporting on what I find. If you want to buy a home HIRE A PROFESSIONAL.
- We'll pick properties that speak to us in some way (details, price, view, location, etc.) while maintaining TOTAL EDITORIAL DOMINATION control.

If you are a realtor or homeowner interested in having us feature your property, send us some photos following these two rules: First, the property must be located in Holyoke, Mass. And second, the photos must be of decent quality. If it's REALLY dark or fuzzy or messy, your property will not be featured. Thanks! (Photos can be sent to holyokehomeblog [at] gmail [dot] com).

Okay, here we go!

FIRST EVAH Holyoke Home of the week: 4 Bed, 1.5 Bath | 1,438 Sq Ft on 0.39 Acres | MLS #7109848 Asking $149,900
Nice recessed panels and newel post details.
Oooooh! Pretty stained glass.
Looks like there may have been some kitchen updates, but you can't see any good details in this photo. Lots of light.
And......looks like the bathroom has not been updated. NOT THAT THAT'S A BAD THING.
Nice big porch.
Is that a backyard or a FOREST?!

  1. This is a great idea! I have no plans to move, but LOVE to peruse the real estate listings.

  2. That backyard is insane.

    Love this idea!

BUT: I just want to make a case for that bathroom:

There are those out there that love the pink tile. If I had it I would not be rippin' it out!!!

  4. Hey Daphne! That is a GREAT link. But in my defense, I said nothing derogatory about the bathroom, just that it hadn't been updated. If someone had 'updated' our Holyoke Home, it wouldn't be NEARLY as charming.

  5. Nice! I can't believe the price.

    What is the street address?

  7. Dear Anonymous,

I don't know the street address because it isn't in the MLS listing. But thank you for your comment because the question made me think about whether or not to include addresses in the future. I decided to include addresses in the future if it's in the MLS listing (available to anyone at www.realtor.com)

The address is 1218 Main St. :-)

That's lovely. Well, parts of it are lovely. I'm not a fan of the pink tile because it doesn't seem to go with the rest of the house, but there are details in there that definitely make it a good buy. Wish I could afford to buy anything right now, but alas, I'll have to live vicariously thru your blog.

Your posts about Mountain View are making me kick myself that I didn't get a share there this year.

  10. Oh!!! I love, love, love the stained glass!!! My sister and I always thought we should be realtors. We love seeing houses and discovering nice streets with great houses.

    Nice home!

I shouldn't have put a "but" in my comment! Maybe an "and"?

The bathroom *would* be better if it had the delightful row of black accent tile that was just oh-so-perfect in the 50s-60s.

I'd prolly chisel out one row of the pink and add the black in, if I had oodles of time in that house!!

Great post. Can't wait for the next one!
