Friday Farm Share!

**Every Friday through November, Holyoke Home is posting images from our weekly farm share at Mountain View Farm. I hope you'll enjoy seeing what the farm has to offer!**
These two white adirondak chairs are outside the barn where we pick up our shares. The chairs call to me to come sit down EVERY WEEK, but I don't dare, because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get up again.....like, EVER.
Green peppers were new this week!

I still CANNOT get over the sheer variety of eggplants. I want to stuff my shirt full of them and leave pretending I am pregnant with eggplant babies.
The colors ALWAYS amaze me.
Another western Massachusetts food product. Real Pickles brand is based in Greenfield, Massachusetts and makes products using locally sourced veggies. They exclusively use lactic acid fermentation to make their products. According to their website, "It is the original pickling method and has been an essential part of healthy human diets throughout the world for thousands of years...Lactic acid fermentation relies on beneficial cultures - similar to those used to make yogurt or sourdough bread - to break down natural sugars in the vegetables and produce a variety of healthful substances, primarily lactic acid."  Their pickled ginger carrots are particularly addictive.

  12. Love eggplants .......but ayurveda says that eggplants and gherkins are not good for brain development so we avoid giving kids eggplants.......but they taste awesome...........I like mine roasted. you peel of the charred skin.......mash it to pulp then mix it with yoghurt till its creamy....then temper it with mustard, curry leaves and green chillies in oil and garnish it with coriander........its a healthy lunch..........
