Grand Rapids Mid-Century Haul (continued)

As if the brass, teak and glass rolling cart wasn't enough, my trip to Grand Rapids (the mid-century modern center of the universe) also brought me this mid-century modern RECORD ALBUM holder (Holla back if you know what a record album is.) I could tell you what I paid, but then you'd want to kill me.

I'm thinking bed-side table. What do you think? It's completely empty inside.

  1. Howzabout records? Get a nice turntable off eBay, couple of powered speakers, you'd be amazed how good it can sound...

  3. Love it as a nightstand! Maybe a mini linen cabinet? Or even a fun little bar!! What a phenomenal piece! Maybe I need to make a trip to Grand Rapids???

  4. Oooh, my grandparents had a record cabinet like this, and right next to it a companion piece that housed the turntable and speakers.... thanks for the memories.

I still have some Styx and Queen albums from the late 70s that I wish I had a turntable to play them on....

  5. Love it as a bedside table! Also out in the living space as a game table, it looks like it has a big enough top for board games, with built-in storage!

I think we've still got one of those down our basement. Is that painted? Ours is a medium wood color, but is made from particle board with plastic legs. Mid-Century cheap in our case.

Buy a record player, some good speakers and you're ready to par-tay!

  8. I still buy vinyl. Pop some records in that puppy, throw a turntable on top, and have yourself a personal dance party. Woohoo!

  11. I found a similar one on the side of the street. I'm hoping to use it a nightstand as well but right now it holds paper and the fax machine. Do kids know what a fax machine is?
