Remember the two red pots I planted with sweet potato vines and licorice this summer?
While cleaning out the pots for the winter, I found an ACTUAL SWEET POTATO. I'm not going to eat it, but (don't tell Monsanto) I am going to put it in the basement, plant it next year, and see what happens.

p to the s: for those of you in agricultural zones 5 and above, the green in that picture above kills me a little.

  3. I love ornamental sweet potatoes! They are the best things to plant in pots and in the ground! Check out my post on my sweet potato vine. I talk about over wintering your potatoes...

  4. We have our first snow day here. Detroit rarely gets snow before Christmas, so I'm happy. Just please don't ask me how I feel when it's still snowing in March.

  6. I planted sweet potatoes last year in my garden and they were really tastey! We had them for Thanksgiving dinner. When I looked outside on my deck, my planters were covered in 4in. of snow. I'm ready for spring!

Ok, looks like I'm in Zone 11.

Still green here! But Christmas isn't the same without the cold.

  11. oo- I'm gonna try taters in my garden next year. I didn't have much luck with eggplant or broccoli- so maybe something hardier will make it in my yard:)
