Digging In The Dirt

Morgan loves the backyard and I don't blame him. It must get so boring smelling the inside of the house all day.
Over the weekend, Mr. Man worked on extending our fabulous bamboo fence and I bumped out a planting bed. Before starting, I said to Mr. Man, "This is me biting off more than I can chew." And then I chewed it all up. Hello Mr. Advil, nice to see you again.

  2. Advil is the best thing after a nice hard day of digging. I had to take some today after scooping up 10 cubic yards of bullshit leaves that aren't even mine. We don't have one frickin tree on our property!

  3. I share your pain! Last week I raked a ton of crap from the yard and that night, out of the blue, had some sort of horrible muscle spasm attack in my shoulders and was down for the count for 2 days. Ahh, the joys of home ownership & getting old. Tell me, why am I not renting and having a life?

  4. Sara - leaves are amazing as compost for your garden if you have one. Maybe it can be free compost for you!

I love truffle pigs. I wasn't sure anyone else knew they existed. At least in Canada everyone looks at me funny. I think they're hilarious.

  5. Yay for yardwork! In a few months Jorge and I will probably fix up our backyard. Right now it consists of gravel and towering weeds.

  6. This time of year I'm always thankful I'm married to a Chiropractor. Your yard will look amazing as always. When our son and his dog were here the dog didn't touch the cat crap..he was too busy in the woods eating deer poop. Maybe once you eat that you never go back to cat..

  8. This is my first time I go on your site. I found so many interesting things in your blog especially its discussion. From the tons of comments on your articles, I think I am not the only one having all the fun here! Keep up the good work. Thanks

  10. It's so much effort to 'bump out' a bed, our turf which seemed to take a long time to establish is practically indestructable now, I'm trying to put in a raised bed and its almost impossible and so tiring.

Still at least it's good excersise and plenty of fresh air!

  11. I really like the shape of your grass, and how it leads to a bench area. Hmmm, noting this for ideas for my backyard :)
